The bill (Reg. No. 2211) suggests a number of recommendations to the central and regional bodies of executive power regarding preparation for celebration of a jubilee.
The Committee members stressed that the draft resolution “requires significant refinement”.
It was noted that “the figure of Taras Shevchenko is a consolidating one for the Ukrainian people”. Thus, according to the participants of discussion, such a draft resolution should be submitted by representatives of all parliamentary factions in order to express an agreed and unified stand of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Following the results of discussion, the decision was taken to:
suggest the people’s deputy of Ukraine Anton Yatsenko address the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada with a written request to recall the draft resolution, under part 3 of article 104 of the Law “On the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine”;
recommend the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to withdraw the draft resolution from consideration;
recommend representatives of all factions of the Verkhovna Rada to jointly submit the draft resolution on commemoration of the 200th birth anniversary of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, after the bill is withdrawn from consideration.
